From Staff Reports

Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men suspected in more than 20 burglaries north of Spokane.

Damian Zowal, 20, and Trever Burzic, 21, broke into rural homes during the day to steal jewelry, guns, cash and prescription drugs, according to investigators.

They were arrested after burglary victims and neighbors provided information.

Numerous items reported stolen have been recovered from a car and the home where the men lived, according to a press release.

Man who allegedly hit police car arrested

A man suspected of ramming a patrol car during a chase from Spokane Valley into Idaho has been arrested.

Steven Gill, 30, and Jennifer Welch, 26, were first arrested Sunday afternoon for trying to break into cars in a parking lot, according to Spokane Valley police. The two were suspected of being intoxicated.

The pair were released from jail, but Gill was arrested again hours later after someone called and said he had taken a bunch of pills and was driving a stolen car, according to a police press release.

Spokane Valley police found the car and gave chase. Gill is accused of hitting the patrol car while trying to escape. When his car was stopped, Gill attempted to run away, at one point attempting to commandeer another car until the driver sped away, police said.

A police officer shocked him with a Taser and a police dog got ahold of his leg, ending the chase in Kootenai County, according to police.
