Scotties blank Greyhounds

 Freeman leaned on its defense to take down Pullman on Friday night.

The Scotties (2-0) limited the Greyhounds (1-1) to less than 200 yards of total offense and did enough offensively to earn a 21-0 shutout in a nonleague game in Pullman.

Freeman’s Markus Goldbach opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Later in the quarter, Jack Paukert hauled in a 45-yard touchdown pass from Preston Hoffman to put the Scotties ahead 14-0.

Mike Cahill scored on an 18-yard run in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Freeman finished with 228 yards rushing and 174 passing. Pullman was limited to 118 yards on the ground and 67 yards passing.

Sandpoint 35, Lewiston 19: The Bulldogs (0-3) got their offense rolling in the second half and beat the host Bengals (1-2). Sandpoint’s Kyle Perry scored both of his rushing touchdowns after halftime. He finished with 73 yards on 16 carries. In the fourth, the Bulldogs’ Michael Plaster scooped up a blocked punt and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown to cap the scoring.

Colville 34, West Valley 21: Colton Vining scored twice on the ground and the Indians (2-0) defeated the Eagles (0-2) at West Valley. West Valley responded with back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter, but Colville scored the next three touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

Cheney 14, Deer Park 0: Brett Wyborney caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Josh Martin and the Blackhawks (1-1) locked down defensively in a shutout of the host Stags (0-2). Martin finished with 171 yards through the air.

Wellpinit 50, Curlew 12: Jason Holt ran for 308 yards and five touchdowns and threw for 159 yards and two more scores as the Redskins (2-0) dumped the visiting Cougars (0-2). All five of Holt’s touchdown runs came in the first half. McKennon Andrews and Shaylon Tonasket had second-half touchdown catches for Wellpinit.

Inchelium 76, Northport 18: Edward Stensgar scored four touchdowns and the Hornets (1-1) dominated the visiting Mustangs (0-2). Stensgar caught two touchdown passes from Malachi Sagerser, returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score and had a 47-yard run for another touchdown. Quentin Holford added two rushing touchdowns, a punt return for a TD and threw for another score. Patrick Lamb scored all three of Northport’s touchdowns, including a 75-yard kickoff return.

Priest River 19, Newport 7: Anthony Storro put the Spartans ahead for good with a 7-yard touchdown run with 6:23 left in the fourth quarter and Trent Slinger added scoring runs of 45 and 22 yards as the Spartans (2-1) topped the Grizzlies (1-1) at Newport. Otis Smith threw a 4-yard TD pass to Kyler Zorica for a 7-6 Newport lead at the half. Both teams lost four turnovers.

Republic 64, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 32: Angelo Rivera ran for 255 yards on 16 carries and scored four touchdowns to guide the Tigers (1-1) past the Warriors (0-2) in Coulee City. Aaron Fritts added two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. Garrett Weller hauled in both of Fritts’ touchdown passes.

Northeast 2B

Reardan 20, Liberty 0: Daniel Peone scored two touchdowns, including a 43-yard interception return, and the Indians (2-0, 2-0) dominated defensively in a win over the host Lancers (0-2, 0-2). Peone scored the game’s first touchdown on an 8-yard run in the third quarter. Zach Wynecoop made it 14-0 with a 7-yard TD scamper in the fourth before Peone’s interception return capped the scoring.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 51, Springdale 6: Hugh Hennings scored twice on the ground and the Broncos (2-0, 2-0) used a balanced effort to beat the Chargers (0-2, 0-2) in Springdale. Hennings scored the first touchdown of the game on a 2-yard plunge, then scored on a 29-yard gallop in the third quarter. Jacob Saetre added a touchdown pass and an interception return for a touchdown for LRS.

Northwest Christian 41, Kettle Falls 13: Nathan Sander scored five touchdowns – three receiving and two rushing – and the Crusaders (2-0, 2-0) dumped the Bulldogs (0-2, 0-2) at Riverside. Sander finished with 174 receiving yards and 85 yards on the ground. NWC quarterback Chris Carey completed 11 of 13 passes for 258 yards and four touchdowns.

Colfax 48, Tekoa-Rosalia 19: Mark Webber threw for two scores and ran for another as the Bulldogs (2-0, 2-0) whipped the host Timberwolves (0-2, 0-2). Cody Thornton had three rushing touchdowns for Tekoa-Rosalia, including runs of 72, 84 and 28 yards.

Davenport 26, Wilbur-Creston 13: Austin Zeller ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns to guide the Gorillas (1-1, 1-1) past the Wildcats (1-1, 1-1) in Wilbur. Tom Wilkie and Loren Boggs also scored rushing touchdowns for Davenport.

Southeast 1B

Colton 42, Dayton 28: Carter Dahmen completed 14 of 22 passes for 216 yards and two scores as the Wildcats (2-0) shook off a sluggish start and beat the visiting Bulldogs. Tristan Blewett and Brady Chadwick each added two rushing touchdowns for Colton.

Garfield-Palouse 54, LaCrosse-Washtucna 8: Hunter Woltering threw for four touchdowns and the Vikings (2-0, 1-0) dumped the host Tigercats (0-2, 0-1). Garfield-Palouse led 22-0 after the first quarter and 38-0 at the half.
