Obituary: Russell, Carolyn Ann

Age 80

RUSSELL, Carolyn Ann 80 Years of Life Carolyn Ann Russell peacefully went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at her home in Valley, Washington.

Her faithful and loving husband Vern tended to her during her extended illness.

Carolyn was born on August 3, 1934, in Pasco, Washington, to Silas and Helen Bailie.

She attended twelve grades of school in Connell, Washington, graduating with the Class of 1952.

On July 27, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Russell, who was serving in the United States Navy.

During that time their daughters, Diane and Robin, were born.

After Vern’s Naval service ended, the family moved to Connell, Washington, and entered the family grocery business.

There they had another daughter, Linda, and a son, Mark.

Carolyn’s time in Connell was spent raising their children, teaching their daughters how to sew, cook, and play the piano.

She was an active member of the Connell Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

She also worked with her husband in the family grocery business.

In the early 1970s the family moved to a ranch at Newport, Washington.

In 1979 they moved to Valley, Washington, where they built and operated a dairy until their retirement in 1993.

In retirement Carolyn enjoyed quilting, winning many awards at the local fairs.

She made all her children and grandchildren quilts.

She and Vern spent many wonderful times hiking, boating, and fishing in the outdoors they loved.

While living at their ranch in Valley, Carolyn was an active member of the Springdale Community Church.

Her children and grandchildren will always remember her cinnamon rolls and pies.

Carolyn is the dear wife of Vern Russell, married 62 years, and the loving mother and mother-in-law of Diane and Al Ochoa, Robin Hoffman, Linda Brisbois, and Mark and Karen Russell.

She enjoyed nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Carolyn’s family give a “Special Thanks” to her caregivers, Barb, Tami, and Vicki, who Dad called “the Girls”.

Graveside Service honoring Mrs. Russell will be in Connell, Washington, at the Mountain View Cemetery at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 16, 2014, with Pastor Sonny Clemmer officiating.

A “Celebration of Life” for Carolyn will be at the Springdale Community Church in Springdale at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2014.
