Obituary: Young, Thomas Edward
Age 86
He was born June 29, 1928 to Edward and Ruby Young and was raised in California where he attended High School and joined the Navy.
Following his service, he attended college in Fullerton, California and gained employment with the Northrop Corporation.
He married his current wife, Mary Ellen in La Mirada, CA in 1980.
In 1987, Thomas retired and he and Mary Ellen moved to Spokane to be closer to family.
After retirement, Thomas drove school bus for the Freeman School District and spent his time fishing, working on the ranch, and tinkering with cars and other equipment.
Thomas was very well liked and approachable.
He was kind and easy to talk with, and made friends out of strangers easily.
Of all his joys, he loved his family and grandkids most of all.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He is survived by one sister JoAnn Bruckner, and his wife Mary Ellen Young; as well as sons Bill Hyndman and Steve Young; daughters Kathy Gilliland, Sherry Taylor and Susan Young; and seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful, caring people at North Central who always treated Tom with love, dedication and dignity.
Inurnment services will take place October 15, 2014 at 3:00pm at the Washington State Veterans’ Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.
