Bremer’s goal gives WSU women’s soccer team win over Idaho

Beau Bremer scored a goal off a rebound of a blocked shot and Washington State defeated Idaho 1-0 in a nonconference women’s soccer match on Sunday at Moscow, Idaho. Bremer scored her third goal of the season after Cara Wegner’s shot was blocked.

The Cougars (5-0-2) are on a 13-match unbeaten streak.

The Vandals fell to 0-7.

Men’s soccer

Whitworth (5-0) scored three first-half goals and held on for 3-2 nonconference victory over Santa Cruz (4-2-1) at Willamette University in Salem.

Eduardo Lopez, Colin Shockman and Micheal Ramos scored for the Pirates.

• Jose Carrera-Garcia’s goal at 75:04 gave 18th-ranked Cal (3-1) a 1-0 nonconference victory over Gonzaga (0-4) at Berkeley, California.

Golf

Oliver Rudnicki fired a second consecutive 69 to finish atop the field at 6-under 138 and lead Whitworth to the men’s championship of the six-team Lutes Invitational at Spanaway Lake GC, in Spanaway, Washington. Rudnicki won by four strokes and the Pirates claimed the team title by nine. Samson Martinez tied for sixth for Whitworth at 5 over.

Whitworth also won the women’s title by 31 strokes, with the Pirates’ Chelsea Bailey topping the field at 4-over 148 for a seven-stroke victory over a trio of second-place finishers, including teammate Michal Schuster. Nicole Lomas of Whitworth tied for fifth place another stroke back.

Junior hockey

Dillon Bogart scored three goals and added an assist as the Spokane Braves (1-1-0-0, 2 points) won 4-1 over the 100 Mile House Wranglers (2-1-0-0, 4) in a KIJHL game at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.

Lance Noomen and Jonny Marzec had two assists each while Tanner Stolz added the other goal.
