Obituary: Pitts, Viola Mae (Keller)

PITTS, Viola Mae (Keller) (Age 91) Was born in November 1922 in a small town in Iowa.

Her family later moved to Dodge, North Dakota.

She talked often of her fond memories of the Dodge homestead where she grew to womanhood and attended school.

In 1943 she married Guy Pitts, also a Dodge resident.

After Guy served his country in World War II, they moved to Spokane and formed Guy Pitts Construction Co. During this time Vi worked for five years at the White Pine Sash and Door Co., then 20 years at Armour Packing Plant.

She spent many weekends riding horses and participating in gymkhanas with her family in the early 1960’s and was very proud of winning Family of the Year Award.

Vi and Guy’s home was often visited by family and many of us have many fun memories of riding horses and swimming.

Vi’s faith was as important to her as her family.

She was a member of the Foothills Community Church for many years.

Her faith, integrity and sense of humor helped her to be the matriarch of our family.

She was always there to help in any way possible and she was extremely influential to her grandchildren.

They will forever be grateful for her constant love, guidance, and support.

Vi will also be remembered for her love of all animals great and small.

Vi was able to spend her last days at home surrounded by her family.

She was welcomed into Heaven on September 15, 2014.

Vi is survived by her son; Rick (Mary), grandson; Chad (Vickie), granddaughter; Shannon (Rob), two great-grandchildren, her sister-in- law and best friend; Beatty, numerous nieces, nephews, friends.

Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Spokane Humane Society or Hospice of Spokane.

Her family would like to thank Pastor Jerry for many years of spiritual guidance and Hospice of Spokane for all their help through this difficult time.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 19, 1pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home.

Her interment will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
