Matt Michels, a certified public accountant, has joined Fruci and Associates as a partner. Michels has more than 15 years of experience in the tax and accounting field.

Architecture

Theresa P. Van Ert has joined Bernardo|Wills Architects as a marketing communications specialist. Van Ert has 18 years of experience in communications and graphic design.

Rob Stoicheff has joined the Spokane office of MMEC Architecture and Interiors as a project manager. Stoicheff has more than 20 years of experience in commercial and residential design for regional design firms and as a sole practitioner.

Finance

Numerica Credit Union has named Jana Erny as vice president of the retail lending department. Erny was a consultant with Montana Analytics in Bozeman for three years. Prior to that, she was the vice president of consumer and small business lending at American West Bank in Spokane. She has 16 years of experience in the financial industry.

Government

Linda Clark has been named district manager for the Bureau of Land Management’s Coeur d’Alene District, effective Oct. 6. Previously, Clark led the Bureau’s Border Field Office in Spokane.

Health care

Jon Schlenske has been named executive director of Community Detox Services of Spokane. Schlenske has been with Community Detox Services for 12 years. He is a Washington State Certified Chemical Dependency Professional, Designated Mental Health Professional and a Co-Occurring Population Specialist. In addition, Jean Kindem has been appointed by the board of directors to another term as board president for Community Detox Services.

Dr. Kate Kuhlman-Wood, a hand specialist, has joined The Lyman Knee Clinic. Kuhlman-Wood has extensive experience in hand, plastic and reconstructive surgery. She graduated from the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University. She completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Washington and a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at Baylor College of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

Drs. Sarah Hammil and Linda Partoll have earned board certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Hammil and Partoll both practice with Northwest Urogynecology, a division of Northwest OB-GYN. Hammil graduated from Creighton University Medical School and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She completed a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the University of New Mexico. Partoll graduated from The University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed her fellowship in urogynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.

Human resources

The Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management have ranked Humanix of Spokane Valley in the top 25 employers from among the 284 workplaces nationwide that won 2014 When Work Works Awards. The awards honor employers who have created effective workplaces based on the following criteria: autonomy, work-life fit, supervisor support for work success, satisfaction with earnings, benefits and opportunities for advancement, opportunities for learning and a culture of trust.

Nonprofit

The Spokane Estate Planning Council has elected Brent T. Stanyer as president and David Green as vice president of the organization for the 2014-2015 program year.

The Rite Aid Foundation has given a $10,000 KidCents grant to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. The KidCents grants are given to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children.

Retail

Etailz has hired Caitlyn Johnson as a vendor onboarding coordinator and John Notturno as an inventory clerk.
