Obituary: Schack, Mary Jo (Cotter)

Age 84

SCHACK, Mary Jo (Cotter) (Age 84) Mary was called to Heaven by the Lord on August 24, 2014.

With her family by her side, and in the home she loved, she passed away after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

Born June 28, 1930 to Paul and Ora Cotter in Melrose, Kansas, she was the fifth of seven children.

She lived in Treece, KS for about 15 years, and lived in northern California for a short time, then moved to Joplin, MO where she met and married Buster A. Schack in 1948.

A son, James A. Schack was born in 1949.

In 1955 they moved to Spokane.

In 1957 a daughter Brenda was born.

Mary was mainly a mother and homemaker.

She worked with her husband in the family business, Shade Tree Service for over 30 years.

Mary loved to garden, cook, crochet and sew and she enjoyed attending services at Sunset Hill Baptist Church where she was a member.

She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother.

She was blessed to have a long life and was able to meet her great-grandchildren which filled her with love and joy.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia and brothers Bill, Paul, Jack and Donald.

She is survived by husband Buster A. Schack; son James Schack; daughter Brenda Roberts; granddaughters Mary Poulin, Jennifer Wittman and Amanda Schack, and great-grandchildren Emma and Landon.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and Providence VNA for their skillful and loving care of our dear one in her last years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 11:00 am at Fairmount Memorial Park.
