Obituary: Swank, L. Maxine

SWANK, L. Maxine (Age 96) Passed away on September 14, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

She is survived by her son, Michael Swank (Sue) of Moscow, ID; daughter, Mardel Bierwagen of Walla Walla, WA; five grand-daughters, Patti Simmelink (Jeff), Ann Ledezma (Roberto), Marisa Crecelius (Marc), Kara Losser (Nate) and Heather Bierwagen; seven great-grandchildren and niece, Midge Watkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Maurice Swank in 1969 and son-in-law, Gary Bierwagen in 2012.

Maxine was born in Lincoln, KS in 1918 the only child of Frank and Florence Hall.

She graduated from high school in Davenport, WA and Kinman Business College in Spokane.

Maxine retired as an elementary school secretary with nearly 30 years of service from Spokane Public Schools, District 81.

She enjoyed summers with her family and friends at the Priest Lake summer cabin which she and Maurice built in 1948.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for over 70 years and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Inurnment will be a Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane and memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
