In Brief: Five hurt in crash on state Highway 3

From Staff Reports

Five people were injured in a car crash on state Highway 3 east of Moscow late Sunday afternoon, the Idaho State Police said.

Lewiston resident Lee Skow, 32, was driving a late-model Nissan pickup truck south on the highway between Kendrick and Deary when he lost control and swerved onto the shoulder just after 4 p.m., according to a news release. He steered back across the highway, driving over an embankment and rolling the truck, the ISP said. The vehicle caught fire, but all five occupants were able to exit the truck safely.

Skow and other passengers were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston. Skow was treated and released, as was 29-year-old passenger Annette Tindle, of Clarkston, Washington, and a 4-year-old passenger.

Mark Channell, 54, of Lewiston, was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon. Another passenger was not admitted to the hospital.

It is unknown if Skow and the other passengers were wearing seat belts.

Feds to seize cash, home from dealer

Federal authorities are looking to seize cash and real estate from a man who has pleaded guilty to dealing methamphetamine out of his South Hill home.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Washington filed paperwork last week to seize the home at 4104 S. Garfield St., which was inherited by Todd Robert Lutz in 2011. Drug enforcement agents and Idaho authorities tracked the sale of more than 100 grams of pure methamphetamine from the home’s detached garage beginning in June 2013 and continuing through February.

Authorities also are asking to seize $13,000 held in bank accounts by Lutz, according to court documents.

Lutz pleaded guilty to conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute meth charges at a court hearing earlier this summer.
