Spring academic honors for several area students

Several area residents earned academic honors for the spring 2014 semester nationwide. Grade-point averages are calculated on 4.0 scale, unless otherwise noted.

• Ottawa University, in Ottawa, Kansas, named Alexander Paul, of Spokane, to the dean’s honor roll for the spring 2014 semester. Students must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the semester to qualify for the dean’s honor roll.

Jake Forsman, of Spokane, was named to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list at Bemidji State University, in Bemidji, Minnesota after earning a grade-point average of 3.25 or better for the semester.

• The University of Idaho named Spokane resident Kiley Miller to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester for earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.

Samuel Weber, of Colton, Washington, was named to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, after he earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or more for the semester.

• Midland University, in Fremont, Nebraska, named Colbert resident Seth Heckel to the president’s list for earning a grade-point average of 4.0 for the spring 2014 semester. The university also named Medical Lake resident Adam Paulson to the dean’s list for earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Joey Garrison, of Spokane, and Devan Howell, of Pullman, were named to the spring 2014 dean’s list at University of Minnesota – Twin Cities for earning a grade-point average of at least 3.66.

John Loeffler, of Medical Lake, was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring semester at Emory University in Atlanta. Students must have a 3.859 grade-point average or higher to be named to the dean’s list.

Kara Rondeau, of Mead, was named to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list with honors at the University of Northwestern - St. Paul in Minnesota, for earning a grade-point average between 3.65-3.74 for the semester.

• The Milwaukee School of Engineering, in Wisconsin, named Spokane resident Austin Campbell to the dean’s list with high honors for the 2014 spring quarter after maintaining a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.

• Coeur d’Alene resident Michael Harlan was named to the honor roll for the 2014 spring semester at Oklahoma Christian University, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Harlan earned a grade-point average between 3.40 and 3.84 for the semester to be named to the honor roll.

Paul Smith, of Greenacres, earned the Chancellor’s Award for the 2014 spring semester at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or more to earn the honor.

• The University of Montana Western named Nicholas Brown and Melody Reinken, of Spokane, and Jamie Cutshall, of Usk, to its spring 2014 dean’s list. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.33 or better to be named to the dean’s list.

• Spokane resident Olivia Johnstone earned dean’s list distinction for achieving a grade-point average between 3.75 and 4.0 for the semester at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.

Michal Goldstein, of Spokane, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York after earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or more.

• Carroll College, in Helena, named Spokane resident William Vilwock to the spring 2014 semester dean’s list. Vilwock earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher to be named to the list.

Joseph Roth, of Newman Lake, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas, for earning a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or more.

Kirstin Craig, of Spokane, earned the dean’s award for academic excellence from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, for the spring 2014 semester. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.3 or more for the semester to earn the honor.

Joseph Johnson, of Spokane, was named to the 2014 Lawrence University dean’s list for maintaining a 3.4 grade-point average or higher for the full 2013-14 academic year. Johnson is the son of Dale and Marilyn Johnson and a 2013 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School. Lawrence University is in Appleton, Wisconsin.
