She is a leader

Richard Magney’s Sept. 6 letter shows the difficult situation faced by so many women in leadership roles in politics and in business. Women-haters cannot accept that women are not mouthpieces for some man behind the scenes, but are legitimate leaders in their own right.

When Magney says McMorris Rodgers is doing the bidding of “party leadership,” he fails to understand that she is party leadership – the highest-ranking Republican woman in Congress and in the top-four inner circle.

Her leadership has helped farmers with the farm bill, reduced taxes for 90 percent of taxpayers and protected Fairchild Air Force Base from cutbacks.

Mr. Magney, this is what women’s leadership looks like: quiet, assured and effective. Quit looking for the man behind the curtain.
