College football roundup: Air Force knocks off turnover-prone Boise State

Safety Weston Steelhammer had three interceptions and Air Force handed Boise State its worst loss since joining the Mountain West Conference in 2011, 28-14 behind seven takeaways on Saturday in Air Force Academy, Colorado.

Quarterback Kale Pearson rushed for a career-best 127 yards and a TD and threw a TD pass as the Falcons (3-1, 1-1) beat the Broncos (3-2, 1-1) for the first time in three tries.

Northwestern 29, Penn State 6: Trevor Siemian ran for three TDs and passed for 258 yards to lead the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten) to a romp over the Nittany Lions (4-1, 1-1) in University Park, Pennsylvania.

Texas 23, Kansas 0: Tyrone Swoopes passed for one TD and ran for another and the Longhorns (2-2, 1-0 Big 12) picked off four passes in a victory over the Jayhawks (2-2, 0-1) in Lawrence, Kansas.

Minnesota 30, Michigan 14: Mitch Leidner ran for a score and passed for another and De’Vondre Campbell returned an interception 30 yards for a TD as the Golden Gophers (4-1, 1-0 Big Ten) rolled to a victory over the Wolverines (2-3, 0-1) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Yale 49, Army 43 (OT): Tyler Varga ran for 185 yards and five TDs. including from 3-yards out in overtime, to help the Bulldogs (2-0) upset the Black Knights (1-3) in New Haven, Connecticut, in the renewal of a rivalry that dates back 121 years.

Western Kentucky 36, Navy 27: Brandon Doughty passed for 387 yards and a pair TDs to guide the Hilltoppers (2-2) past the Midshipmen (2-3) in Annapolis, Maryland.

Kentucky 17, Vanderbilt 7: Patrick Towles threw a 20-yard TD pass and scored on a 1-yard run, and the Wildcats (3-1, 1-1) made three fourth-quarter interceptions to hold off the Commodores (1-4, 0-3) in Lexington, Kentucky and end a 17-game Southeastern Conference losing streak.

Colorado State 24, Boston College 21: Garrett Grayson threw a 12-yard TD pass to Charles Lovett on a fourth-down play with 1:02 left, lifting the Rams (3-1) over the Eagles (3-2) in Boston.
