Northwest Christian boys, girls take second

Jack Ammon took second place and the Northwest Christian boys cross country team finished second overall at the King’s Cross Invitational in Shoreline, Washington.

Ammon completed the 3-mile race in 15 minutes, 56.24 seconds. NWC’s Alex Wallat was fifth (16:56.08), Timothy Kopplin was 10th (17:06.99) and Mican Henry was 11th (17:09.71).

The NWC girls also took second place. The Crusaders’ top finisher was Rebekah Henry, who took 11th place in 22:07.39.

Northwest Christian (Lacey, Washington) took the boys and girls team titles.

Boys soccer

Bonners Ferry scored twice in each half and blanked Priest River 4-0 in an Intermountain League match in Bonners Ferry.

The Badgers’ Machael Scharf opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and Trevor Pew made it 2-0 with a goal 4 minutes later.

Collin Stone and Chase Dinning scored second-half goals for Bonners Ferry, which held a 23-10 shots advantage.

Spartans’ keeper Corbin Maltba stopped 12 shots to limit the damage.

Girls soccer

Elisa Williams had a goal and an assist and Priest River beat Bonners Ferry 3-1 in an Intermountain League game in Bonners Ferry.

Williams assisted on Angie Taylor’s 30th-minute goal and made it 2-0 with a goal of her own in the 62nd minute.

Bonners Ferry’s Jordan Young scored in the 79th minute to narrow the gap, but Angel Clark scored right after Young’s goal to cap the scoring.

Priest River held a commanding 25-5 shot advantage.
