Obituary: Waters, Thomas Garrett

Age 61

WATERS, Thomas Garrett March 10, 1953 - July 25, 2014 Tom was born in Denver, Colorado to Thomas E. Waters and Mary Lou (Gross) Waters.

He grew up in Golden and Boulder, Colorado; and moved with his family to Spokane in 1964.

He was the second of nine children.

He passed away shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Tom had a lifelong love of music, played the guitar and sang.

When he was a teenager, he and his brother, Greg were part of a garage band a la the Beatles.

He attended Shadle Park High School.

He was employed by Metropolitan Improvement District in Seattle where he was recognized as an outstanding employee.

He had lived for 12 years in an Oxford house in Ballard, WA, and served in many organizational roles there.

Tom loved Seattle.

He was proud to be an employee of MID, and was dedicated to the mission of the Oxford recovery program.

He was a source of encouragement to many, setting a steadfast example of Christian love.

His relationship to Jesus Christ was the most compelling fact of his life.

He always cared for and was committed to all of his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Greg Waters.

He is survived by his father, Thomas E. Waters, his mother, Mary Lou McDonough, brothers, Bill Waters (Penny), Jon Waters, Brendan Brozovsky (Desiree), and sisters, Cynthia Person (Jay), Sara Brozovsky, Suzanna Doan, rachel Scholten, and sister-in-law, Kathy Waters; also by numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial for Tom on Sunday, October 12th at 10:00 am, at the Oxford Suites Hotel, 15015 E. Indiana Dr., Spokane Valley, WA.
