STA publication wasteful

In today’s post, I received a slick Spokane Transit Authority “April 25, 2015 Ballot Information” publication seeking my affirmative vote on a “3/10 of 1 percent increase in sales tax for public transportation.”

People, let’s not be fooled again. This self-promoting, multipage publication asks for our yes vote for more money. Budget accountability has been missing from the STA for a very long time. They don’t need more money; they need to responsibly manage what they are given. Just think of the cost of printing this publication. That money could have been used for normal operation. The transit authority has been given enough money and chances to get it right.

It galls me that the STA would frivolously spend our tax money this way. This “vote yes for me” publication is a gross misuse of funding. Shame on STA and anyone who votes yes for this more-money plea. Use what you have responsibly, and guess what: You really don’t need more.
