In brief: Reneau wins Valley pageant

SPOKANE VALLEY – Mariah Reneau was selected as Miss Spokane Valley at the first Miss Spokane Valley Pageant.

The pageant was March 28. Sarah Fotheringham and Krystian Young were selected as this year’s court. All three are students at Central Valley High School.

The three will represent Valleyfest and Spokane Valley at local events and parades.

Seniors fair scheduled Friday

SPOKANE VALLEY – There’s a free resource and informational fair for seniors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Spokane Valley Senior Center, CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

Businesses, community and social service organizations will be there with information that’s especially helpful for seniors.

Coffee and cookies will be provided.

Food distribution planned at church

MILLWOOD – Second Harvest and Millwood Community Presbyterian Church are having a food distribution event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the church’s parking lot, 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

Produce and perishable items are available for low-income families.

No appointment or documentation is needed, but you must be present to receive food.

Please bring boxes to transport food.

Medical Lake plans book sale

Medical Lake – The Friends of Medical Lake Library book sale is Friday and Saturday.

Pay what you can to support various library programs, activities and services.

Salon owners plan appreciation day

SPOKANE VALLEY – Studio 525 Hair Design, 520 S. Pines Road, has been purchased by Brad and Melissa Fraser.

The new owners are having a customer appreciation event from 4 to 7 p.m. April 16.

Brad Fraser said the salon is 30 years old and this is a way to welcome new and old clients. Cake will be served and visitors will receive coupons with special offers.

SPOKANE VALLEY – Valleyfest’s benefit dinner and auction is April 17 at 5:30 p.m. at CenterPlace Regional Event Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place.
