Obituary: Moore, Roger C.

Age 77

MOORE, Roger C. (Age 77) Of Spokane Valley, Washington passed away April 13, 2015 in Spokane, Washington after a heroic fight following cancer complications.

Roger was born September 6, 1937 in Spokane to Wade and Dorothy (Anderson) Moore.

His parents were educators and Roger grew up in Endicott, Edwall, Diamond Lake and Asotin.

He graduated from Asotin High School in 1955.

Roger loved athletics and played basketball in high school and college.

He financed his college education working at Potlatch Forest.

Roger attended Eastern Washington State College in Cheney and later transferred to the University of Washington where he received his bachelors degree in Business.

Following college, Roger was employed 38 years by Safeco Insurance Company initially in the Seattle claims department.

Roger was transferred to Spokane in 1977 where he became the Northwest Claims Physical Damage Manager.

In addition to a successful business career, Roger was an avid hunter, golfer, master gardener and E.W.U.

football fan.

Roger spent many happy hours at his Sacheen Lake cabin with his wife and children.

He loved traveling to Hawaii and cruising.

In retirement he volunteered as a financial auditor of court appointed guardianships and also prepared taxes through AARP.

He was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church, the Eagles and the Elks lodge.

Roger was best known as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife; Nancy Moore of Spokane Valley, WA.

Children; Rogina C. Whittaker (Mark) of Loon Lake, WA.

Son; Stanley D. Moore of Spokane, WA.

Grandchildren; Jack H. Lynch, Erika Whittaker and Mallory Whittaker.

Brother; Winston Moore of North Powder, OR.

Sister; Geraldine (David) White of Valleyford, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Wade and Dorothy Moore and his sister, Carol McKay.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, at the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield, Washington.
