Shame on Czech ambassador

I could not believe my eyes reading the report about the conflict between the U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic and the president of that republic. This was a misleading piece of propaganda. I know it did not originate in Spokane, but nonetheless it is a shame it was published.

President Milos Zeman is not going to attend a “military parade” that seems to have no attributes. This is a commemoration of the victory and the end of war in Europe: Yes, the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany. The 70th anniversary is a very big deal for Europe and the Czech Republic. Zeman is obliged to attend.

An ambassador has no business expressing opinions about presidential decisions that do not touch his or her constituents, in this case the United States. What happened was a gross meddling in the matters of a sovereign country. I, as a U.S. citizen, am ashamed of Ambassador Andrew Shapiro, and would certainly welcome his expulsion from the Czech Republic and the diplomatic services of the U.S.
