Corridor could be tolled

I beg to differ with Gary Crooks’ contention (“Let the future drive policy,” April 5) that when the North-South Corridor is completed, “if it were tolled so that it paid for itself, it would be empty.”

Before moving to the Spokane area, we lived in Colorado Springs, and every time we drove here to visit relatives, I dreaded the first two hours of the two-day trip, getting through Denver.

Now that there is a well-used tollway around the east side of Denver, the peace of mind of avoiding the downtown chaos is well worth the fee. No doubt that feeling of convenience would exist here. I know it would for me.

I suspect the long-haul drivers would agree with me regarding a local toll cost.
