Spokesman-Review reporters win top awards from Idaho Press Club

Spokesman-Review reporters in the newspaper’s Coeur d’Alene bureau won two first-place awards from the Idaho Press Club’s review of the best print journalism in the state in 2014.

Becky Kramer and Scott Maben won first place in the general news category for “Oil by Rail,” a report examining the increasing frequency of oil trains through North Idaho and Spokane.

Kramer also won first place in environmental reporting for “A study in survival,” which examined the tracking of wolf pups, and a second-place award in serious feature reporting for “Coal quandary,” about the coal industry in Colstrip, Montana.

Boise correspondent Betsy Z. Russell received an honorable mention in the best blog category for her political blog, Eye on Boise.
