Citizens to benefit from Prop. 1

I support Proposition 1, the maintenance and operation levy for Spokane County Fire District 8. The levy will provide funding necessary to maintain fire protection and emergency medical services within the district, ensure that each station is staffed with a paramedic and increase response reliability.

The levy will fund advanced emergency medical response around the clock. Funding will ensure that a paramedic/firefighter is on staff 24 hours a day at each of the four district fire stations. The paramedic will essentially bring the services of an emergency room to your home in the event of an emergency medical call.

The paramedic/firefighter has received advanced training in emergency services. The paramedic has the ability to start life-saving medications, establish an airway should it be necessary and accompany the patient to the emergency room.

I believe that staffing each fire station in Fire District 8 with a paramedic is a service that all the citizens of the district will benefit from and appreciate. Based purely on the advanced medical care that I witnessed, voting yes for Spokane Fire District 8 Proposition 1 is something that I encourage you to do also. Don’t place yourself or your family in jeopardy.
