Obituary: Colby, Richard Michael

Age 74

COLBY, Richard Michael He lived his life well.

Richard Michael Colby, better known as “Dick”, was born on June 16, 1940 in Spokane and passed away on May 28, 2015.

In 1961, Dick was married to his best friend, Sharon (Olson) Colby.

Over time, they had four sons: Michael, Kelly, James, and Lynn.

Later came two grandsons, Kees and Aaron.

Dick was friendly, hard-working, and a man of high integrity.

He became an expert in the use of fiberglass, both in manufacturing and repair.

But off the job, his love was for most things mechanical, especially old cars.

His hobby was owning, enjoying, and restoring antique or classic vehicles.

His last project, completed just days before his passing, was a 1935 Ford Phaeton - a truly beautiful car.

Besides his immediate family, Dick is survived by his sister, Linda Cummings (Dan); his three brothers, Dan Colby (Barb), Jake Hogewoning, and Dean Hogewoning (Bunny); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Fay (Colby) Martinelli.

A celebration in honor of Dick’s life will be held on August 8, 2015, at 2PM in the training center of Spokane County Fire District #3, S. 10 Presley Dr., Cheney, WA.

Dick touched many lives while he was with us.

Please come and share in our memories of a wonderful man.
