Obituary: Cruger, Paul

Age 91

CRUGER, Paul Paul Cruger was born September 14, 1923 and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 15, 2015.

His father was one of Spokane’s earliest Pentecostal preachers, his last place of ministry being the Main Avenue Mission in downtown Spokane.

Paul was the 15th child of his father and the second and only son of his mother’s three children.

He grew up in Spokane and married Virginia Nicholl.

He worked for Arden Farms Dairy for 13 years.

They moved to Otis Orchards in 1951.

Paul worked for Snow’s Sales Company for 25 years and retired as top counterman from Bert Shields Automotive and Edwards Engine Rebuilders.

Paul was a faithful man of God.

He loved to sing in harmony with the quartettes as they sang southern gospel music and played the trombone in church.

He loved his family, especially family reunions, which at one time brought together over 200 relatives.

His hobby was making wooden cars, trucks and trains and camping with the Prime Timers, seniors at Valley Assembly of God.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ellis, mother, Francis and siblings-Bernice Freeborn, Leslie Cruger, Arlie Bowerman, Glen Cruger, Beulah Lotz, Leola Van Vliet, Dean Cruger, Phyllis Cruger, Dorris Peterson, Laurel Wagner, Evelyn Stiles, Richard Cruger, Donald Cruger, Berta Bard, June Cummings and his wife, Virginia.

Paul is survived by three daughters, Gloria Knudsen (Joe) of Poulson, MT, Carolyn Williams (Jim) of Colville, WA, Cathy Mogus (Al) of Vancouver, BC, Canada; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00am at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 E. Broadway Avenue in Spokane Valley.

A graveside service will follow at 3pm at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane, WA.

The family has asked that in lieu of flower arrangements a donation in Paul’s name can be made to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane.
