People: Former One Direction singer calls off engagement

From Wire Reports

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik and singer Perrie Edwards have called off their engagement.

A representative for Malik confirmed Tuesday the couple had ended their engagement. No other details were provided.

Both Malik and Edwards are 22. The singers became engaged in 2013.

Edwards is one of four singers in the girl group Little Mix. Like One Direction, Little Mix formed on the U.K. version of “The X Factor.” The girls won the competition in 2011.

Malik left One Direction earlier this year to launch a solo career. He announced last week that he signed a recording contract to release music as a solo artist.

Osbourne apologizes to Latinos

Kelly Osbourne apologized Tuesday for remarks she made on “The View” that suggested if Latinos were expelled from the United States, there would be no one to clean Donald Trump’s toilets.

Osbourne’s comment while a guest host on the ABC show was directed at the Republican presidential candidate, whose comments calling Mexican immigrants “criminals” and “rapists” have drawn condemnation but have also given him a lead in early polls.

“If you kicked every Latino out of this country then who is going to be cleaning your toilets, Donald Trump?” Osbourne asked of the billionaire, who wasn’t on the show at the time. As she tried to continue her thoughts, she was quickly interrupted by co-host Rosie Perez and backed off her comment but was later forced to issue an apology online after it received hours of criticism.

Osbourne, the daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne and a former host of “Fashion Police,” wrote that she isn’t racist but was taking responsibility for “my poor choice of words.”

She added, “It is my hope that this situation will open up a conversation about immigration and the Latin community as a whole.”

She ended her statement by stating she cleans her own toilets.

Woody Allen film has talented cast

Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart and Bruce Willis are among the stars of Woody Allen’s next film.

Allen announced the cast for his latest film Tuesday. The not-yet-titled movie will begin shooting this month in New York and Los Angeles.

As he typically does, Allen announced the cast in alphabetical order and revealed no plot details.
