Triple Crown winner works at Del Mar; next race undecided

American Pharoah had his first workout since winning the Haskell Invitational two weeks ago, but no decision has been made about which race is next for the Triple Crown winner. Under the watchful eyes of trainer Bob Baffert, American Pharoah was timed for 4 furlongs in 47.60 seconds, according to Equibase, and covered 5 furlongs in 1:00.13 on Sunday at Del Mar in Southern California. While the Travers at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 29 seems to be the favorite for the colt’s next start, Baffert says a decision won’t be made until another workout scheduled for next weekend.
