Man uses excavator with no permit

The Liberty Lake Police Department contacted a man recently who seemed a little fuzzy on preparations for building a home.

A resident near the intersection of Caufield Court and Maxwell Avenue called police around 8 p.m. on Aug. 10 and said a man was using a small excavator to level a lot and the resident was concerned that he might hit a buried water pipe.

The man told police that he owned the lot and was planning to build a home there, said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus. The man was instructed on the necessity of obtaining permits before doing any work on the lot, Asmus said.
