American Cancer Society Discovery Shop - Volunteers are needed for the Discovery Shop, 805 W. Garland Ave., for help with a number of duties. For more information, call Joanne at (509) 465-1607.

AmeriCorps VISTA – The organization seeks volunteers to fill five summer AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) associate positions from June 15 to August 14. Associates will work with a community partner to develop, implement and evaluate literacy, math and other activities for youth not enrolled in other summer programs. Anna Ogden Hall Long Term Recovery Shelter - Volunteer opportunities include in the nursery and kitchen; various program class teachers; reception work; and help in the medical clinic. Camp Fire USA Inland Northwest Council - Opportunities are available to be a club co-leader in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area. Contact Marcia Asmussen, program coordinator, at (509) 747-6191.

Catholic Charities - Drivers are needed to deliver “brown bags” to those in need of meals who are unable to obtain food themselves. Volunteers must pass a Washington State Patrol background check, have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to use for food deliveries and be able to lift and carry bags weighing 8 to 10 pounds. Communities In Schools - Volunteers are needed to help site coordinators at Shaw Middle School and/or Sheridan Elementary School. Volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of four hours per week to help with paperwork, student programs, chaperoning students during/between classes, lunch times, recess times and tutoring. Dachshund Rescue NW and Dachshund Club of Spokane – Volunteers are needed to hug dachshunds so they will be socialized before being placed in new homes. Open at 10 a.m. daily with an appointment.
