Forbes, Sanchez lift Indians in late innings

EUGENE – Ti’Quan Forbes drove in Dylan Moore with a two-out single in the 11th inning after Tyler Sanchez hit another game-saving homer in the ninth, and the Spokane Indians defeated the Eugene Emeralds 4-3 on Sunday. Moore doubled with one out in the 11th and came home on Forbes’ third hit. Sanchez followed another Moore double with a homer in the ninth to tie the game. It was his sixth homer. All have come in the ninth or later and have either tied or won games. Sanchez scored Spokane’s first run in the fifth. He led off with a single and reached second on an error. He eventually scored on a passed ball. Spokane starter Peter Fairbanks went seven innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk while striking out four. Adam Choplick (4-0) gave up two runs that tied the game in the eighth but went three innings for the win. Jason Richmond got the save. Spokane, 11-13 in the second half of Northwest League play, play Eugene (14-11) again tonight in the second game of the five-game series.
