Obituary: Bergman, Nelda

Age 77

BERGMAN, Nelda On August 18, 2015, Jesus embraced Nelda Bergman in His loving arms and took her home.

She is survived by the love of her life, Don Bergman, her five children: Pam (Dan) Spickler, Doug Bergman, Vickie (Bob) Propp, Christine Gorton, and Denise Collins; her brother Don (Sharon) Skeen; grandchildren: Travis (Heather), Heather (Dave), Sarah (Casey), Brian, Alicia, Anthony, Kristi, Jackie (Justin), Jason, Jessica, Ashley; great-grandchildren: Rylan, Liliana, Ava, Christian, Dakota, Canyon, and Capri, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Della Skeen, step-mother Lettie Skeen, and her sisters June Wolfrum and baby Mary Skeen.

Nelda was born in Plain City, UT on July 13, 1938.

In her early teens she moved to Idaho, and met her husband Don in Sandpoint.

They married at the Hitching Post in 1955.

The two moved to Spokane Valley, WA in 1958 with their two small children, and had three more kids shortly after.

They settled in Veradale, raising their five kids on a produce farm, which is now Bergman’s Tree Farm.

As well as being a fulltime homemaker, Nelda worked for Halpin’s and Central Valley School District.

She found joy in being a mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Nelda loved reading, especially to her grandchildren, and treasured spending time with family and friends.

Completing crossword puzzles was her favorite pastime.

Don and Nelda would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 2nd.

Nelda had a spitfire personality and her rare spirit will be greatly missed by all of those who loved her.

A funeral service will be held at Intersection Church in Spokane Valley, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12:00pm (a viewing will be held at 10:30am-11:30am before the service), with a lunch reception to follow.

A burial will be held at Pines Cemetery at 3:00pm.
