Obituary: Moreland, Ronald Lee

MORELAND, Ronald Lee Ronald Lee Moreland, 79 years old was born April 26, 1936 in Keyser, WV.

Stepson of the late Stanley Sharpless and son of the late Hazel Sharpless.

Ron grew up in Oakland, MD with sisters Betty Bullis, Jane Friend, and brother Butch Sharpless.

He worked on the farm from sun up to sun down.

By age 16 he ran away from home and joined the military in 1953.

A true patriot and proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired E-6 TSGT after 20 years of service.

His last duty station was at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX where he called home for the next 40 years.

The last five years of his life was spent in Spokane, WA to be with his daughter and her family.

Ron loved being surrounded by family and he enjoyed traveling, fishing, baseball, drinking beer, listening to old country western music, and telling stories of his of his younger days in the Air Force.

He leaves behind his wife Won Moreland; his children Brenda Beckman, Sheilla Moreland, Ronnie Moreland, Michael James Moreland, Donna Moreland Braunbeck, Robert Moreland and John Moreland.

He also has 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a loving, compassionate, and protective father and friend.

We will miss him dearly.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11am and will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 428 W. 19th, Spokane, WA.
