Obituary: Sweet, Betty Jo (Powers)

Age 72

SWEET, Betty Jo (Powers) (Age 72) Passed away August 18, 2015 in Spokane, WA.

She was born July 14, 1943 in Spokane, the youngest daughter of Leon Paul and Elzora Maud Powers.

Betty spent her early years on the family ranch on Peone Prairie.

Betty graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1961.

She graduated from Kinman Business University.

In 1970 Betty married James Douglas Sweet.

They enjoyed thirty-three years together.

They opened their home to anyone who needed help.

Betty was a gifted writer who worked at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA.

As the editor of the Lakeland Newsletter, she managed the print shop.

Betty and her beloved husband Jim dedicated their lives to helping others.

Their service was exemplified by decades of mentoring numerous foster children.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jim (2003), her parents, Leon Paul and Elzora Maud Powers, two sisters, Margaret Nordhagen and Leona Keene.

She is survived by stepdaughters, Shelley (Sweet) Van Allen, Candi (Sweet) Van Allen; son Christopher Roulet, several grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Chapel, 5200 W. Wellesley, Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at 1:00PM.
