‘Walking Dead’ spinoff promises more deadly scares

“Fear the Walking Dead” – This “companion” series to prime time’s monster hit tells the story of the zombie apocalypse from an entirely different angle. Set in Los Angeles at the brink of the scourge, it follows a dysfunctional blended family, led by a high school guidance counselor (Kim Dickens) and the man she’s dating (Cliff Curtis). Episode 1 is a bit plodding, but have no fear, more scares are dead ahead. 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC.

SUNDAY: “Katrina: 10 Years After the Storm with Robin Roberts” is a news special that revisits the Mississippi Gulf Coast to examine the lasting effects of the hurricane that rocked a nation. The program profiles those who have suffered and honors those still working to rebuild New Orleans. 10 p.m., ABC.
SUNDAY: It just doesn’t seem right that, as the NFL gets set to return, the first season of “Ballers” is coming to an end. In the finale, Spencer (Dwayne Johnson) faces a tough decision when Joe (Rob Corddry) has an idea for a new venture. 10 p.m., HBO.

TUESDAY: “From Dusk Till Dawn” returns for Season 2, and you just know there will be lots of fangs and blood. Joining the creepy fun is Danny Trejo, who plays a brutally evil character called “The Regulator.” 9 p.m., El Rey Network.
TUESDAY: “Public Morals” is a gritty new crime series that whisks viewers back to 1960s New York, where police officer Terry Muldoon (Edward Burns) is part of a squad charged with enforcing the city’s morality laws. Michael Rapaport also stars. 10 p.m., TNT.
WEDNESDAY: “The Carmichael Show” is a new sitcom starring comedian Jerrod Carmichael. When he moves in with his girlfriend (Amber West), he’s reluctant to tell his opinionated parents (Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier) about the living arrangement. 9 p.m., NBC.
WEDNESDAY: In the Season 5 finale of “Suits,” Mike (Patrick J. Adams) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) face down their past demons to make potentially life-altering decisions. Good luck. It’s our experience that past demons are often very difficult to face down. 9 p.m., USA.
THURSDAY: Think you had a tough day at work? Behold “Power & Ice.” It’s a new series that follows three Alaskan power companies as they compete in the brutal world of line building and maintenance amid the “most unforgiving conditions on earth.” 10 p.m. History Channel.
FRIDAY: On a shocking new edition of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri goes on a hunger strike. … No, not really. He just eats his way through Richfield, Minn. 10 p.m., Food Network.
SATURDAY: After three delectable – but very gory – seasons, “Hannibal” comes to an end tonight. Will the title character’s (Mads Mikkelsen) murderous deeds finally come back to bite him? 10 p.m., NBC.
