Obituary: Mckenna, Betti M. (Reilly)

Age 71

McKENNA, Betti M. (Reilly) (Age 71) Betti passed away peacefully on August 9, 2015 at Cottage in the Meadow after having seen her entire family who gathered to spend time with her.

Betti was born in Spokane on May 10, 1944 to Bill and Elizabeth Reilly.

She was raised in Spokane where she finished all of her schooling, elementary through college.

Upon graduating from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1965 as an RN she worked for a short time before marrying.

She met her husband through her brother and they married in 1966 and immediately moved from Spokane into a career with the US Navy.

They have two daughters, Shannon and Jill.

Betti spent numerous years moving around California and the east coast as a naval wife where she spend her time raising young kids.They settled back in the northwest in Idaho Falls, Idaho when the girls were young as Pat removed himself from navy active duty.

Betti and her family eventually ended up in Kennewick, WA where she began working once again as an RN.

Her area of interest was geriatric care and she provided many years of comfort to home bound elderly patients.

Betti and Pat divorced though remained friends and when the girls finished school in Kennewick, she moved back up to Spokane to be near her family.

Eventually, as grandchildren began arriving, she moved to Yakima and lived the rest of her 20 years there.

Betti again worked in home health care and nursing home care in the Yakima area.

Her passion in life was her family and her numerous, beloved dogs.

Betti is survived by her daughters, Jill James (and husband Brian) and Shannon Richardson.

She has eight grandsons: Zach, Justin, Ryan and John James and Alex, Nick, Christian and Preston Richardson.

She is also survived by her two brothers, Mike (and wife Judy) and Pat (and wife Darl); and numerous nephews and a niece.

Funeral Arrangements: Funeral services to Celebrate Betti’s Life will be held in Spokane on Saturday, August 29th, 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.
