Obituary: Phillips, Laurie Ann

PHILLIPS, Laurie Ann (Age 55) Passed away peacefully August 16, with family by her side.

Laurie battled cancer for ten years, refusing to give up until the very end.

She loved animals, especially her German Shepherds, Winnie and Cassie, who visited her at Royal Park.

Laurie was born and raised in Spokane and graduated from Rogers High School in 1978.

She started working with animals at the stock yards while still in school.

She was a wonderful cook and liked to bake and cook for people, especially her brother Duke.

Laurie will be missed by the many friends she had.

She had a knack for getting to know new people.

Laurie is preceded in death by her father, Harold “Bill” Phillips, who also battled the same cancer.

She leaves behind her mother, Marilyn “Penny” Morkve, sisters Cheryl (Rich) Beck, Cindy (Sandy Sallstrom) Sevy, brother Duke Phillips, and aunts, uncles, cousins nephews and nieces, as well as her best friends who were there for her during her long hospital stays, Judy Hansen, Carol Veitenheimer, Shelley Lee, and her most wonderful landlords for 30 years, Cliff and Joan Rehmke.

The family is having a memorial service on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 11:am at the Morgan Acres Community Church, 7319 N. Regal for all who loved her.
