County to fill library, planning positions

Spokane County is accepting applications for volunteer positions governing library operations and real estate planning.

Three vacancies on the Spokane Planning Commission need to be filled. The group handles matters of zoning and comprehensive planning and meets twice a month for an average of about four hours. Commission members are appointed for four-year terms. Spokane County is seeking one applicant from District 1, the north part of the county represented by Todd Mielke; one applicant from District 3, the southwestern portion of the county represented by Al French; and one at-large member.

The Spokane County Library District is looking for a resident of the east part of the county (including Otis Orchards, Millwood and Spokane Valley) to replace outgoing trustee Tim Hattenburg. The appointment begins Jan. 1 and lasts four years. The library board meets the third Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. at the Argonne Library, 4322 N. Argonne Road.
