Indicted A Santa Clara County grand jury has indicted former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald on one count of rape of an intoxicated person. The indictment stems from an incident last Dec. 15 at McDonald’s home. Current 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks has also been charged by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office with misdemeanor sexual battery for an alleged assault the same day involving the same alleged victim.

Clarified Rutgers football coach Kyle Flood said that when he was contacted by university officials about communicating with a faculty member regarding the academic status of a player, he didn’t know he was being investigated for possibly violating school or NCAA rules. “Now I’m aware of what the contact is for. So yes, I was contacted by the university.” The school’s office of general counsel is investigating the severity of the alleged violation.

Arrived Triple Crown winner American Pharoah has arrived at Saratoga Race Course in New York, walking off a horse van and into his new surroundings for a few days before running in the Travers Stakes. The first Triple Crown winner in 37 years is the 1-5 favorite in a 10-horse field for the Travers on Saturday.

Out PGA champion Jason Day has withdrawn from the pro-am at The Barclays after tweaking his back. Day withdrew from Wednesday’s pro-am at Edison, New Jersey, because of a longstanding disc issue. The Australian wanted a day of rest so that he could play in the tournament.
