Obituary: Colliver, John Earl

Age 68

COLLIVER, John Earl John Earl Colliver born August 28, 1947 in Havre, MT., to Robert and Mary Colliver.

Surrounded by family, John passed on August 21, 2015 after a hard fought, one year battle with cancer.

John had two older siblings, Robert “Bob” and Ron.

Upon the early death of his father, Mary moved her young family to Oklahoma where she met George Ennis and they had six children: George “Hoppy”, Jim, Tom, Steve, Mary “Sis”, and Vicki.

They moved to Deer Park in 1958 where John attended Deer Park Schools, graduating in 1965 from Deer Park High School.

This is where he met his wife Pat while she was living with her aunt and uncle on their farm.

They fell in love and married on December 8, 1965 as John was drafted into the Army for the Vietnam War.

Upon returning from his years of service to his country, he and Pat settled in Spokane where John held a variety of jobs.

His love for cars, horsepower, and mechanics won and in 1977 he opened what would become a landmark business near Deer Park known throughout the region to be able to fix what others could not; John’s Repair.

In the meantime they had two children: Tim and Brian.

John is preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother, Mary; and his two older siblings, Bob and Ron.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Pat; and his sons, their wives and his grandchildren: Tim (Natalie, Kolbie and Gracyn) and Brian (Trina, Peighton and Parker).

He is also survived by his younger siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Thank you to the Hospice House of north Spokane for their care and compassion of our husband and father in his final days.

In lieu of flowers we would ask that donations be made in John’s name to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at Deer Park High School on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM; casual attire encouraged.
