Growth is wrong focus

All we hear the so-called economic experts talk about is the importance of growth. There is just one problem with that model: We live on a finite planet. What happens when there is nowhere to grow?

Our environment does not concern itself with growth. The thing that sustains the environment is circulation. Life requires billions of gallons of water every day for its existence. Yet the amount of water on our planet does not change. And the amount of raw material for life itself never changes.

I believe that the reason our economy is so volatile and unpredictable is because of the focus on growth as the engine to sustain it. If we would change this paradigm to circulation, I think we would see a much healthier and more stable economy. If we would allow ourselves to learn from nature, we’d have a much healthier planet all around.
