Obituary: Gerard, Janett R.

GERARD, Janett R. (LaRue) aka “Snooks” Janett was born January 24, 1955 and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She attended Reardan High School and later graduated with an accounting degree from SFCC.

She worked several different jobs throughout her life but her greatest joy was being home raising and loving her family.

Those who knew Janett would say that she was a beautiful person with much love for her family and friends.

She was full of compassion and spunk.

“Snooks” had a green thumb and loved to grow a beautiful vegetable and flower garden.

While living in Illinois she would remind us at home that she “could hear the corn growing.

She had a great love for animals, especially her dog “Lucky” and her cat “Bell.”

During Holidays her family always teased about the need to make “extra mashed potatoes just for Snooks.”

She loved her mashed taters.

She always had a big heart for those in need of a little extra love and attention; both animals and people.

When she hugged someone it wasn’t just a hug, it was a “Snooks” hug, with full arms around you and a big kiss on the cheek.

Janett has a huge and beautiful family who loved her dearly.

She is recently preceded in death by her sister, Sherry McDonald.

She is survived by her mother and father, Guy and Ruby LaRue of Nine Mile Falls, WA, her wonderful husband of 40 years David Alkire of Hoopeston, IL; son, Michael LaRue (Anna) of Juneau, AK; daughter, Melissa Welker (Adam) of Hoopeston, IL; brother-in-law, Ron McDonald (Sherry); brother, Steve LaRue (Eva); brother, Clifford LaRue (Brenda); sister, Deborah LaRue; sister, Diania Bieber (Tim); sister, Donna LaRue; sister, Angela Purdy (Alan).
