Obituary: Soreboe, Mary Ellen

Age 95

SOREBOE, Mary Ellen (Age 95) Mary Ellen Soreboe was born April 29, 1920 and passed away in Spokane, WA on August 21, 2015.

She was the eldest of six children born to Victor Wilfred Williams and Anna Lora (Young) Williams.

Mary Ellen was born on her parent’s farm at Barber, MT.

She is survived by brothers, Richard (Dick) and wife Wilamet of Roseville, CA; Herbert (Keith) and wife Barbara of Ryeagate, MT; and Gerald (Jerry) and wife Carole of Spokane, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sigurd Soreboe in 1986 as well as her parents and two brothers, Thomas and Victor, Jr. After graduating high school at Ryegate, MT, she attended Normal School in Billings, MT to prepare herself to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a teacher.

However, illness forced her to discontinue her studies at that time.

In 1942, Mary Ellen moved to Long Beach, CA where she had extended family and friends.

There she joined the Colonial Tabernacle Church, was baptized and taught Children’s Sunday School.

It was there she met and married her husband Sigurd in 1948.

Mary Ellen retired after 25 years of employment at the Long Beach Naval Shipyards achieving the position of payroll supervisor.

In 1996, she moved to Northern California to be near her brother, Jerry and his wife.

In 2000, they all moved to Spokane, WA.

Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, CA.
