What is abortion penalty?

Recently, two local politicians, state Sen. Matt Shea and U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, have made speeches strongly condemning abortion and Planned Parenthood. In light of this, I would like to know what type of punishment individuals will face if a woman’s right to an abortion is reversed.

If it’s true that they believe that life begins at conception and that abortion at any time after conception is murder, then what do they believe the punishment for having an abortion should be? We put people in prison for years or life and even execute them for murder in Washington. We also punish the accomplices of murderers with similar punishments. So what would the appropriate punishment be for having an abortion? And what punishment would they impose on those who assist – doctor, friends, family, pastor – in a woman’s abortion?

Since they took the time and effort to denounce Planned Parenthood and abortion, I would appreciate the time and effort for a response. Their constituents deserve a direct and honest answer to these questions. After all, it will be us doing the time if we do not comply with their laws.
