Women’s basketball: Washington State holds off Boise State

Freshman Borislava nailed 18 points and Pinelopi Pavlopoulou scored a career-high 12 points to lift the Washington State Cougars 57-52 over the Boise State Broncos at Boise, Idaho.

The Cougars kept Boise State off the scoreboard for the first five minutes and maintained a 10-point lead for 10 minutes into the game. Washington State entered the final quarter with 15-point lead and held the Broncos to only 12 points on 4-of-20 shooting in the fourth.

Marijk Vanderschaaf scored 15 points for Boise State.

Washington State will conclude its nin-day road trip at San Diego on Sunday.

Eastern Washington 68, Utah Valley 64: Hayley Hodgins scored 18 points and Ashli Payne had 16 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double in an Eagles victory over the Wolverines.

Delaney Hodgins scored 15 points for the Eagles and Tisha Phillips added another 8 points and made 8 assists. The Eagles struggled in the first half, shooting just 31 percent from the field and entering halftime seven points behind.

Eastern Washington rallied in the third quarter, hitting its first five shots to take a 35-33 lead. Both battled in the fourth to tie the score 62-62 with 2:23 left on the clock. The Eagles took the game with two free throws in the final seconds.

Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led Utah Valley with 20 points.

CC Spokane 94, Gonzaga Club 50: Jessica Boyer hit four three-point shots and scored 21 points to lead the Sasquatch in a victory over the Bulldogs.

CC Spokane’s Khadija Neumeyer had 12 points and five rebounds and Brianna King added 11 points with eight steals.

Christina Haight lead Gonzaga Club with 12 points.
