GSL roundup: CV girls fend off Gonzaga Prep

Central Valley girls basketball coach Freddie Rehkow saw some growth in his young team Tuesday as it had to fend off Gonzaga Prep 58-47 in a Greater Spokane League game at Gonzaga Prep.

After Rehkow’s Bears built a 14-point lead in the second half, Gonzaga Prep took advantage of some turnovers to pull within two.

CV (3-0 overall, 2-0 league) finished the game on a 9-0 run.

“We played young,” said Rehkow, who starts three sophomores and two freshmen. “They took care of it at the end. We’re about where I thought we’d be right now. There’s a lot of learning to do. I thought Prep played well.”
