Steve Kerr attends Warriors practice, return still unknown

OAKLAND, Calif. – Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was present at practice Tuesday appearing to act more like himself, according to people on the team. But the Warriors still do not know when – or if – he will be back this season.

Asked if it was a certainty Kerr would return from his leave of absence this season, interim head coach Luke Walton said, “I don’t know. We don’t know when his return is. How can I say it’s certain he’s going to return this season? Nothing’s a certainty, I don’t think. We obviously expect and hope that he is back this season for sure.”

Kerr said earlier this month he continued to experience headaches following two offseason back surgeries. He had expressed before the season opener that he was “very confident” that he would be back this season.

“He looks better,” Walton said. “He does. He’s acting more like himself and joking more like himself. But as far as what that means for his return, we still have no idea. It is nice to see more of his old self.”

Asked about Kerr’s recovery headed in the right direction, Warriors forward Draymond Green said, “Definitely, and it’s exciting because we’ve missed him. That’s our guy.

”It’s good to see. I’m happy for him. I’m really looking forward to whenever that is him getting back. He’s been more of himself around us this week.“
