Snoqualmie Pass to remain closed Thursday

The Spokesman-Review
No traffic will be allowed over Snoqualmie Pass on Thursday, the Washington State Department of Transportation said. Interstate 90 remains closed from North Bend to Ellensburg due to heavy snowfall, trees leaning over the roadway and high avalanche danger on the pass, officials said. Highway crews worked through the night on avalanche control and clearing the roadway of snow, spin-outs and collisions. Conditions will be evaluated Thursday evening to determine when the pass can reopen. Heavy snow has created chaos over the last few days as Snoqualmie Pass has repeatedly closed and reopened due to accidents and avalanche control work. The state closed the pass again Wednesday night. The Idaho State Police also has advised people not to drive over the Fourth of July pass on I-90 or State Highway 3 because heavy, wet snow was causing trees to fall into roadways.
