Trump bankruptcies legitimate

Regarding Darlene Brice’s Dec. 19 letter regarding Donald Trump’s four bankruptcies:

In all four cases (per politifact.com), Trump declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy for a business that he owned. He personally had his stakes in each of these businesses reduced by at least 49 percent, as well as losing millions of dollars that he had put in to acquire them. The businesses were affected by some things outside of his control (recessions, the proliferation of Indian casinos), much like Darlene was (medical bills, cancer, the Great Recession). He did not walk away, stiff his creditors, investors and employees. In each case the business was kept open.

Being a business owner does not always work out, but when it does it can improve many peoples’ lives. According to money.cnn.com Trump has created at least 34,000 jobs. What politician has done that without taxpayers paying for it?

This is not to say whether Trump would be a good or bad president, but that he uses the tools available to him to solve problems, and he is wise enough to know when a plan is not working and needs to be changed.

Be wary of headlines and innuendo that do not rely on facts. They are everywhere today.
