Obituary: Soderberg, Mildred (Bridgens) “Millie”

Age 81

SODERBERG, Mildred (Bridgens) “Millie” December 15, 1933 - January 30, 2015 We lovingly Celebrate the Life of Millie Soderberg that both began and ended in Spokane, Washington.

The daughter of Ralph F. Bridgens and A. Mildred Herman spent most of her life in Spokane and was a 1952 graduate of Rogers High School.

She worked to raise her family as part of the kitchen staff most notably at The Academy Retirement Community, The Ridpath Hotel, and The Highland House Restaurant.

Upon retirement, she continued to serve as a foster grandparent with the Catholic Charities.

Her hobbies included crafts, especially hand embroidery, with a recent interest in quilting upon relocating to Lilac Plaza.

Millie was preceded in death by her son Ralph Soderberg, brother Ralph Bridgens and parents.

She is survived by her son Mike Soderberg and his wife Rosa Soderberg of Spokane, WA; son Harold Shaw (Soderberg) and his wife Audra Shaw of Spokane, WA; her sister Patty Buckley and her husband Jack Buckley of Fort Worth, TX; her grandchildren Marliese Shaw and Korinna Shaw of Spokane, WA; and her nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Heritage Funeral Home.

The Graveside Service will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Millie is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Lilac Plaza, 7007 N. Wiscomb St., Spokane, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities Foster Grandparents Program or American Heart Association.
