Time for Shock home game changed because of parade

The kickoff time for the Spokane Shock-San Jose SaberCats Arena Football League game on May 16 has been changed from 7 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arena.

The game was changed in consideration of the Spokane Lilac Festival parade and events later that same evening.

Doors at the Arena will open one hour prior to kickoff.

The Week 8 matchup between Spokane and San Jose will be the first of three National Conference matchups during the regular season.

The current preseason SaberCats roster features former Shock quarterback Erik Meyer and wide receiver Adron Tennell, both of whom were assigned to the San Jose roster during the 2014 free agency period.

The May 15-17 weekend also serves as the culmination of the Spokane Lilac Festival. The festival, in its 77th year, hosts the largest armed forces torchlight parade in the nation.

Clark recovers

Whitworth women’s assistant softball coach Randy Clark continues to recover from a heart attack he suffered last week at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

On Tuesday, Clark was moved out of the intensive care unit at Evergreen Health Medical Center in Kirkland, Washington, sports information director Steve Flegel said.

Whitworth head coach Cristal Brown is Clark’s adoptive daughter, Flegel said. This is Clark’s fourth season assisting Brown.

Clark is the former coach at The Master’s College, in Newhall, California.

He earned a doctorate in organizational leadership from Pepperdine University.

He also serves as a Whitworth University Board of Trustee member.
