NFL notes: Union will argue for Adrian Peterson

Associated Press

Adrian Peterson remains in NFL limbo and his union’s latest attempt to restore his playing status will take place in federal court.

Attorneys for the NFL Players Association are scheduled to argue today for the Minnesota Vikings running back’s reinstatement from a suspension levied by the league under its personal conduct policy. The punishment, stemming from the child abuse case involving Peterson, has sparked another divide between the NFL and the NFLPA over the player discipline process.

When Peterson’s appeal was denied in December by an arbitrator appointed by the league, the union sued to have the decision overturned.

Titans hire LeBeau, release tackle Oher

The Tennessee Titans hired Dick LeBeau as their assistant head coach in charge of defense, pairing the Hall of Fame player and veteran coach with Ray Horton.

Mike Mularkey also has been promoted to assistant head coach in addition to coaching tight ends, and Jason Tucker has been hired as an assistant wide receivers coach.

The Titans also waived right tackle Michael Oher after his first season in Tennessee ended early with him being placed on injured reserve. Oher, whose life was portrayed in the Academy Award-winning film “The Blind Side,” signed a four-year, $20 million contract in March 2014, bringing him back to his home state.
